Police have released the name of a man who died in Matlock at the weekend.

Alexander Blick, who lived in Matlock Bath, was discovered by a member of the public at about 10.50am on Sunday, October 16 in the grounds of the library in Steep Turnpike.

A post-mortem examination, carried out yesterday (Monday), revealed that the 42-year-old died as a result of head injuries.

A 43-year-old man, arrested on Sunday night on suspicion of murder, remains in police custody.

Matlock library, which was closed yesterday while forensic work was carried out, will open as normal today.

Police are still appealing for anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the Steep Turnpike area after 1pm on Saturday, October 15, to call officers on 0345 123 3333 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
