Your article on the anti-social behaviour on Bakewell’s recreation grounds will ring familiar bells with many local residents (Mercury, June 6).
The problem has been long standing and has never been dealt with by the Police in the past, so nobody really believes it will be dealt with by their latest efforts.
But one thing occurs to me, rather than the Police making high visibility patrols of the area, why don’t they take off their yellow jackets and sneak up on the vandals?
All too often a fluorescent jacket appears at the park gates and the miscreants disappear in the other direction, only to carry on later.
It’s almost like the Police don’t want to catch them.
What do YOU think? Do police do enough to stop anti-social behaviour and catch those responsible?
