The opening of Derbyshire Dales District Council’s £12 million Arc Leisure Matlock might still be some months away, but the new centre’s pool is already full of water.

Main contractor Morgan Sindall has filled the newly constructed shell as part of the required tests on the pool that will house an eight-lane facility with moveable floor that meets regional competition standards.

Everything is going to plan and, as our photograph shows, an added bonus is that the views from the pool hall across the Derwent valley to the Oker hillside are absolutely stunning.

Arc Leisure Matlock is due to open this summer and the public will be able to get a sneak preview at an Open Day on Friday March 11.
