In October, Stewert Waldron, AF Blakemore Post Office controller in relation to SPAR Bakewell, said: “Blakemore Retail relinquished the franchise for Bakewell Post Office over six years ago and since then, it has been operated by a ‘third party’ company called Zubes International.

“When we agreed to this temporary solution, we never envisaged that, Post Office Limited (POL) would be unable to find a permanent successor in this time frame. Whilst we have been more than flexible with POL regarding the retention of the PO operation, we are unable to accommodate the facility any longer. We can only apologise for the inconvenience this will cause customers and hope that POL will be able to find a new post office operator quickly.”
