young musicians have received a cash boost from council bosses.
The talented pupils at Lady Manners School, in Bakewell, were awarded a £200 cheque from Derbyshire County Council to pay for new music stands.
Judith Twigg, councillor for Bakewell, handed over the money to the band at a its Valentines Concert.
The councillor is keen to support the young musicians however she can and secured the funding through the council’s Members’ Community Leadership Scheme.
The remaining cost of the stands was met through money the students had raised through ticket sales to their concerts.
The school is preparing to play in the Music for Youth festival.
