Pupils enjoyed a taste of India when a top Matlock restaurant visited a village school.

Lea Primary pupils welcomed staff from Maazi, of Causeway Lane, to the school for a day of Indian cooking.

Chefs Roy Carlo and Rajesh Sharma, gave youngsters a demonstration and a talk on India on Tuesday.

Children had a chance to sample different spices and took home Indian-style tiffin boxes which contained Bombay potatoes and rice.

The youngsters are currently studying India in class so teacher Karen Maycock, contacted Maazi to see if they could give pupils a talk on cooking.

She added: “The children were really enthusiastic and had a chance to taste lots of different spices from India. Some of the spices were quite a shock for them but it was a really good experience and everyone enjoyed it.”
