Twenty-four pupils from Lady Manners in Bakewell had a thrilling week battling fierce weather off Scotland’s west coast.

The group sailed over 192 miles on their epic voyage with leading sail training charity, Ocean Youth Trust Scotland.

Teacher Tim O’Neal said: “Regardless of the gnarly weather, our students had a truly fantastic time.”

Skipper Dan Russell added, “Adventure under sail, particularly in the weather we had, is no holiday. At times the young people can be cold, tired and even sea-sick.

But it’s how you cope that counts and the pupils from Lady Manners certainly did. They were great, keen to get involved, to take responsibility, to help fellow crew members and to keep the boat sailing.”
