DERBYSHIRE Dales MP Patrick McLoughlin tucked in to a school dinner when he joined Peak District Primary pupils for lunch.

Mr McLoughlin visited Elton school to see the buildings new extension.

The school has created a new facility, in the adjoining school house, which is being used as a kitchen area for pupils to take part in cookery lessons.

Mr Mcloughlin looked round the extended building and joined youngsters for a hearty meal of fish, potato wedges, sweetcorn and coleslaw.

School secretary Julie Stone said: “Mr McLoughlin sat with the children for lunch and had a look around the school house.”

She added; “I think he thought the extension was very nice.

“It will make a big difference to a very small school.”

Mr Mcloughlin is set to return to the school to speak to pupils about his role as an MP.
