A RARE albino pheasant was spotted in the Peak District.
Wildlife photographer James Dobson was up at the crack of dawn when he spotted something ethereal gliding through the trees.
He said: “As the undergrowth rustled and this strange bird appeared, I wasn’t really prepared to see a ghost.”
James, who was taking photographs near to Chatsworth, saw the pheasant walking straight towards him.
It was the same shape and size as a female but they do not normally come in white.
He added: “I’ve never seen or heard of anything like it.
“I’ve photographed some stunning birds over the years but I must say this will be one I’ll remember for a long, long time. It was a very special moment and I feel very privileged to have seen her.
“Unfortunately her snow white plumage makes her an easy target for predators. Let’s hope this unseasonably warm weather turns to frost sometime soon, to give this gorgeous creature a longer lifespan.”
