cHILDREN in Cromford are looking forward to hosting football matches after their school association secured a grant to buy goalposts. Cromford C of E Primary School, in North Street, has purchased two sets of portable posts with a £260 grant provided by independent charity Derbyshire Community Foundation. Their school football team will now be able to play ‘home’ matches at Cromford Meadows. Last year, pupils played after-school games against children at Bonsall, Kirk Ireton and Brassington, and they are already training for the return games now that the new football season has begun. The school’s football coach Jill Robinson said: “The children organise the teams themselves, and anyone at school can play and is included in the team. “The children – and the parents who come to support them – have great fun.”
