Record breaking fun is in store at Gulliver’s Matlock Bath this weekend as Paralympic champion Oliver Hynd leads an attempt to enter the Guinness Book of Records.
The theme park is celebrating its 35th birthday all weekend – and on Sunday visitors will be invited to take part in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to set a world record.
Paralympic gold medallist Oliver Hynd, who swam his way to victory representing Great Britain in London 2012, will lead hundreds of families in an attempt to set a new world record for the largest group of people waving a magic wand.
A spokesman for Gulliver’s said: “Entering the Guinness Book of Records is a magical way to mark a milestone birthday and we’re lucky enough to have persuaded local lad Ollie Hynd to kick things off!
“Wands will be provided – all families need to do is come along and join an unmissable day of summer fun.”
Gulliver’s is offering family tickets at the reduced price of £35 for a family of four plus single tickets for just £9 when booking online to visit on Saturday or Sunday.
Children who are also celebrating their birthday on Saturday or Sunday receive free entry when accompanied by a full paying person (proof of date of birth required).
Doctor Who’s Tardis, K9 and a Dalek will also be joining in the fun, while families can test their football skills with Soccer Star Coaching’s soccer speed shoot challenge and sing along to performances from CBeebies ZingZillas.
There will be an “icons over the decades” fancy dress theme with a short break at Gulliver’s Warrington Hotel and theme park worth £500 up for grabs for the child with the best costume.
