A new household recycling centre is set to open tomorrow.
The centre – which cost just over £1.1 million – is at Harrison Way, Northwood, near Darley Dale.
It will be open seven days a week from 8.30am until 6pm – except on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Residents will be able to take a range of household items there for free including furniture, electrical items, wood, garden waste, paper, batteries, tyres old clothes and glass and plastic.
It is expected that about 5,000 tonnes of waste annually will be taken to the new centre.
Of this more than 60 per cent will be recycled rather than being sent to landfill.
Residents can also continue to recycle using their doorstep recycling collection schemes provided by Derbyshire Dales District Council.
