Can you spot the mistakes in these two new heritage signs which appeared in Cromford this week?

Two eagle-eyed readers contacted the Mercury after spotting the slip-ups on the Derbyshire County Council signs at the bottom of Cromford Hilll.

Steve Elliot of Bonsall, questioned how many Abrahams there are at the Matlock Bath attraction – as the new sign states – and added: “We should be justly proud of our World Heritage status and the achievements of the great Jedediah Strutt in Belper.

“It’s a shame we can’t spell his name right.”

And Simon Phillips, of Cromford, said he could not believe his eyes when he too spotted the glaring error – that Strutt’s North Mill had become Shutt’s North Mill.

A spokesman for Derbyshire County Council apologised for the mistakes which had been made and promised the signs would be replaced as soon as possible.
