Derbyshire Dales District Council has targeted a top sporting ‘double’ during Olympics year by organising two Sport Relief miles.
One starts at Wirksworth Leisure Centre, with the other at the Recreation Ground in Ashbourne.
Each event – sponsored by Sainsbury’s – costs £6 to enter for adults, £3 for under 16s and £15 for a family ticket. Participants can choose how far they go – one, three, or six miles.
Warm up sessions start on the day at 9.30am ahead of a 10am start. In Wirksworth the route starts from the car park and follows the footpath along the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway. Cllr Steve Bull said: “We really want people from across the Derbyshire Dales to take part in these fun events. Healthy lifestyles are one of the District Council’s top priorities, so I am really pleased we are holding two events this time around.” Enter at www.sportrelief.com/the-mile/
