A young artist has been reunited with a picture he drew years ago.

Benjamin Hulme, 13, responded to an appeal he saw in the Mercury for the youngsters who contributed towards a mural at Wirksworth Swimming Pool to come forward.

The picture had been discovered by the pool’s new manager Glyn Booth.

Benjamin, who now attends Anthony Gell School, in Wirksworth, drew the picture of a train as part of a competition, entered by all the schools in Wirksworth at the time, to show something that represented the town.

Glyn said: “We believe the picture is about eight years old.

“We thought there was a history behind the pictures and we wanted to find out whose it was. It’s a nice keepsake for Benjamin.”
