A Youlgrave bus driver has scooped an award for her outstanding customer service at a recent awards ceremony.
Despite being told as a child that girls shouldn’t drive buses – Jane Plummer received the most passenger nominations from Trent Barton travellers.
The event was hosted by Ricky Tomlinson – most famous for his role as Jim in the Royle Family – and Jane bagged herself the prestigious Customer Choice Award.
Her colleague, Dennis Cresswell, explains: “Throughout her driving career she is always ready with a big smile and a friendly greeting.
“She always has a chat with her regular passenger asking about their health and their families.”
Jane became a bus driver 33 years ago following in the footsteps of her grandfather who worked on the Sheffield Corporation Transport.
She is widely known to go the extra mile to serve her customers and at times has even driven them to their destination in her own car.
Jane currently lives with her husband at Stoneyside in Youlgrave after moving from Tideswell four years ago.
