School shows are a joy to watch

The Mercury’s photographer Paul Robinson has been privileged to attend many school shows over the last couple of weeks.

He has been all over the Dales snapping shots of happy youngsters joining in with the spirit of the season and giving their all in front of their families.

The results of his labours are spread across four pages in today’s paper and they are a joy to be seen.

At this time of year it is especially heart-warming to have confirmed all the great work going on in our primary schools.

It is not an easy task to stage a Christmas Show and it takes a lot of commitment from teachers, pupils and parents to pull it off.

It would be easy to say: “let’s forget it this year” but most of our primary schools have rejected that idea and pulled out all the stops to give us all some grand festive shows.

It must be very rewarding to see the beautiful, happy smiles on the faces of the children as they sing and dance on stage.

The Mercury is delighted to have been able to capture some of those moments and present them to you here and online at our website www.matlockmercury.co.uk.

We hope you enjoy them and have a fantastic Christmas.
