Three new senior teachers are settling into life at Lady Manners School this term.

Headteacher Duncan Meikle has recruited department heads for maths, English and languages, after previous post-holders retired or moved on.

He said: “We have a strong team of curriculum leaders and, while it was difficult to say goodbye to old friends last year, our new staff bring a fresh impetus to the team.

“I am impressed to see our new staff are already making their mark.”

Keith Byrne, the director of studies for mathematics, has joined from Finham Park School in Coventry and will be leading the transition to the new A-Level syllabus.

Jacqui Lansley, director of studies for English, was previously at Anthony Gell School in Wirksworth.

Phil Ince has arrived as director of studies for languages from Kirk Hallam Community Academy in Erewash.

Duncan said: “It is well documented that times are tough in education, but this has focused the leadership team on what’s really important for the area’s young people - high quality teaching delivered by inspirational and experienced teachers.”
