A UNIQUE exhibition that brings together art and science throughout history has been created by a Darley Dale artist.
David Gibbons, whose work is currently to be found on the new 50p pieces representing the Olympics, created the colourful oil painting after listening to a BBC radio show about radiation.
David was inspired after learning about Newton’s discovery, that light was made up of the spectrum of colours and how other scientists had contributed along the way.
He said: “To find a way in graphic terms to present this vast grand story was a great challenge that I relished and I believe I have set out in a logical way the historical development and set the scientists on each others shoulders to form a ladder takes in their individual contributions and in some cases using their words in quotations to underline the landmarks.”
The painting is on display in Matlock Design and Print, in Steep Turnpike.
A full colour A4 copy of the work together with a printed description can be purchased at the shop for £5.
