Second arrest for robbery

A SECOND man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a Dales bank nearly 26 years ago.

Raiders burst into the Cromford branch of Lloyds in September 1985.

A 61-year-old security guard was left with serious injuries after allegedly being hit with the butt of a gun and the bandits made off with £7,500.

The robbery sparked a massive manhunt but, noone was arrested until July last year, when officers held Alan Murray, 59, of York.

He was jailed for ten years in December after admitting robbery and having an imitation firearm.

On May 25, officers from Matlock CID arrested a 63-year-old, from Ironville, on suspicion of robbery. He has been released on bail.
