A shopper who stole four cushion covers from a Matlock store has been fined after being tracked down by a PCSO.

Staff at M & Co, in Firs Parade, noticed a woman acting suspiciously in the store on the afternoon of March 16.

They later noticed four cushions without covers on display and contacted police.

A member of staff said the suspect had bought an item of clothing and was identified through store system checks.

PCSO Karl Millward, from Matlock Town Safer Neighbourhood Team, then visited the offender and recovered the stolen items.

The shoplifter, who admitted the offence, was given an £80 penalty notice and banned from the store.
