TWO super-fit villagers are looking to boost the Derbyshire Times’ £25,000 appeal for Ashgate Hospice by taking part in the forthcoming Eyam half-marathon.

Sisters Rachel and Caroline Edge, of Eyam, have lost over three stone each after a tough slimming programme and have targeted the village’s half-marathon on May 19.

Rachel said: “We’ve both lost over three stone and came up with the idea of doing one of the country’s toughest half-marathons and now my sister Caroline and I are both in training to raise over £775 for Ashgate Hospice.”

Those wanting to sponsor Rachel and Caroline and boost the DT’s £25,000 appeal during the hospice’s 25th anniversary year can visit www.justgiving.com/Rachel-Edge1.

Hospice supporters are also invited to join Ashgate Hospice’s first Sporting Dinner at The Proact Stadium with guest speakers including former Wales goalkeeper Mark Crossley and former Leeds United footballer and comedian John Stiles.

The event will be held from 7.30pm, on Thursday, May 23, at Chesterfield FC’s Proact Stadium, at Whittington Moor, Chesterfield, with a charity auction. Tickets cost £35 each. If you would like information or want to purchase tickets, contact Emily Evans on 01246 568801 or email events@ashgatehospice.nhs.uk.

DT appeal supporters can call Jon Cooper or email jon.cooper@derbyshiretimes.co.uk and donations can be made at www.justgiving.com/DerbyshireTimes1 or by cheque to The Derbyshire Times’ Ashgate Hospice Appeal and be posted to the hospice.
