Following on from the success of the rockabilly–themed evening last year, The Smedley Street business group has organised a big bash to demonstrate what they can offer.

The Crash the Wedding evening will be held on Smedley Street, in Matlock, this Friday from 6pm to 9pm.

Teresa Whittaker, of Bella Figura, one of the participating shops, said: “This event aims to draw attention to what our businesses can offer for special occasion planning – weddings, parties, prom, birthdays, hen and stag dos – from venue hire and catering to clothing, beauty and gifts.

“Mainly it’s an excuse for everyone to get dressed up and have a lovely evening.”

Businesses will be offering refreshments and special promotions and in true wedding style there will be a pop–up photo booth courtesy of Smedley Street business group newcomer Andy Joskowski.

Designate @ The Gate will also have a wedding singer from 7pm to 8.30pm, followed by punk band Serpent Motors.

Those in attendance are encouraged to dress in their finest wedding attire and the best dressed person will win a bottle of champagne.

Businesses along the street have been dressing their windows to coordinate with the big day.

Teresa added: “In Bella Figura’s case there will also be special pop–up displays from our suppliers such as millinery and vintage bridal bouquets.”

Those who get signatures from each of the participating venues could also be in with a chance of winning £50 of Smedley Street shopping vouchers.
