Guides spiced up their usual meeting by celebrating Diwali – the Indian Festival of Light.

The Starkholmes group had a chance to taste samples of Indian food, donated by Maazi India restaurant in Matlock,.

The group produced Diwali lamps to adorn their meeting venue at Starkholmes Village Hall and learnt about the significance of each of the five days of the Diwali festival, which started on October 26.

Members also retold traditional Diwali stories to explain some rituals and uses of lights within Diwali festivities.

Kath Clay, Guider at First Starkholmes Guides, said the event had been a big success and thanked Maazi for generously donating the food.
