WOULD-BE home-owners could make hefty savings on the price of their dream property if they act quickly.

Stamp duty is currently suspended for first-time buyers purchasing properties below £250,000.

But from March 24, the one per cent tax is being reintroduced on all homes costing between £125,000 and £250,000.

Savvy buyers are being urged by builders Taylor Wimpey to to act without delay to ensure they complete their purchase before the deadline – and save up to £1,699.

Carolyne Watkinson, regional sales manager for Taylor Wimpey, says: “Our stunning new homes at Briars Chase, Ilkeston, are already popular with first-time buyers looking for high-quality, great-value new homes, and the stamp duty savings provide yet another reason to choose one of our sought-after properties.

“I am urging would-be buyers to contact us without delay if they hope to make savings by securing the home of their dreams before the stamp duty holiday ends.”

A superb selection of two-bedroom apartments is available now at Briars Chase from as little as £71,196, while three-bedroom houses are priced from only £111,996 and four-bedroom properties from just £122,396.

Selected properties are available under the Government-backed FirstBuy scheme which lets qualifying first-time buyers secure their new home for just 80 per cent of its purchase price, including a five per cent deposit, subject to status.

Situated just a few minutes’ walk from Ilkeston’s thriving town centre, the new homes at Briars Chase benefit from having a good selection of restaurants, shops, pubs and a cinema on the doorstep.

The development is also close to numerous infant, junior and secondary schools.

For commuters, the A52 gives easy access to Nottingham and Derby, while the M1 provides excellent links to the North and South. Langley Mill railway station is less than four miles away, providing regular services to Nottingham in just 20 minutes and Sheffield in 45 minutes.
