Ashover Brownies are celebrating the arrival of a new Maypole which was dedicated during a special Songs of Praise service in the village church on Sunday morning.
But not for them an ordinary wooden pole . . . The village Brownie pack has a special, state-of-the-art, collapsible, steel maypole with a pinnacle crown and eight brand new braid ribbons which replace a set used since 1924.
The pole was put on display in All Saints on Sunday and the Brownies demonstrated how it would be used before the Rector, the Revd Ralph Lawrence, performed the dedication ceremony.
‘Fluffy Owl’ Jean Slater thanked the many people who had contributed money for the new maypole and Ashover Parish Council for its donation.
