Mountain rescue team members were called out on Sunday morning to come to the aid of a 14-year-old girl with a knee injury.

The girl had been out with a walking group on a very muddy path between Winster and Birchover when she stumbled over the rough ground, causing the painful injury.

Due to her difficult location, the ambulance service called on mountain rescue to deal with the incident.

17 members of the rescue team responded to the call, providing medical attention at the scene before evacuating her over the muddy terrain to a nearby farm using a stretcher and team Land Rover.

She was then transferred to a road ambulance and taken to hospital for further treatment.
