Tendering is a waste of time

Can I please add my voice to the growing concern over Derbyshire Dales District Council’s blatant disregard for not only the parlous state of the bridge, but also its place in the current celebrations of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s Jubilee.

In the real world where the rest of us have to make our living, there would be no need to waste time and money preparing a tender document.

In the real world a simple letter or phone call would invite three or so suitable contractors to look at the bridge, suggest remedial work for its repair, cost out the work involved and submit a quote.

But no, the jobsworths have to keep the paperwork moving around otherwise they would have nothing to do.
