The future of Wirksworth is in residents’ hands

Wirksworth is a step closer to controlling its own destiny as councillors forge forward with its neighbourhood plan.

On behalf of the parish, Wirksworth Town Council has formally submitted a request to Derbyshire Dales District Council to be designated a neighbourhood area.

The move is the next step in creating a Neighbourhood Development Plan for the town – giving Wirksworth residents a say on how it develops.

Local people now have six weeks to make any comment on the town council’s application before it is formally considered at district level.

Copies of the application can be viewed a during office hours at the Matlock and Wirksworth town halls, as well as the library, leisure centre, and post office in Wirksworth.

Alternatively, copies can also be viewed online by visiting the district council’s website www.derbyshiredales.gov.uk/wirksworth
