Police are urging witnesses to come forward after thieves forced their way into outbuildings at two houses in the High Peak of Derbyshire.

The offenders forced the hinges from a shed door at a property in the Calico Lane area of Furness Vale.

They made off with two mountain bikes from inside after cutting a cable securing them to a ground anchor.

The blue coloured Kona Tika 2014 and a silver On One Eve 456 mountain bike were taken sometime between midnight on Monday, December 28 and 5am the following morning.

On the same night, another property on the lane was targeted as offenders cut through the lock on a garage door.

An electric screwdriver was stolen from inside, but was later recovered close by.

Anyone with any information about these crimes is asked to contact PC Jonathan Taylor on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
