VILLAGERS have been getting to grips with some heavy metal at a tractor pull.

Nine teams took part in Birchover tractor pull consisting of residents, visitors and Barn Farm Campsite guests.

The decorated carnival tractor was pulled up the main street to a roar of applause by on–lookers and the teams received a great reception as they hauled the tractor over the finish line.

Each team had two pulls of the carnival tractor to determine the quickest time.

Team Red Lion was victorious in the end with a time of 15.1 seconds that won them a crate of beer, kindly donated by Thornbridge Brewery, Bakewell.

The Birchover Carnival Committee thanked everyone who took part and supported the event, as well as The Red Lion, The Grouse and Claret, Peak Cycle Hire, Massarella’s of Peak Village and Thornbridge Brewery for their support.

Thanks was also given to Catherine of Catherine’s Green Farm Plants for the loan of the tractor.

The event raised £455 for the 2012 Village Carnival, which is taking place on July 14.
