A NATIONALLY renowned businessman who was awarded an OBE in 1999 for his services to industry and community in Derbyshire has died at the age of 64.
Philip Robinson died peacefully at his home in Two Dales after years suffering from the degenerative disorder, multiple system atrophy.
Mr Robinson, whose family founded the Chesterfield-based packaging firm, Robinson, worked as the company’s chief executive until his retirement due to ill health in 2003, having first joined the family business in 1970.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Robinson, his children Louise Goode, Sarah Gould and Tom Robinson and five grandchildren.
Daughter Louise said: “He was such a loving family man. He was wonderful and he loved sailing, walking, bird watching and caravanning. He just loved to be outdoors.”
The funeral will be held on Monday, February 21, at St John’s Church, Walton at 12.30pm.
