Trio gear up for JE James’ hospice ride

Derbyshire Times staff are setting a fine example as they sign up for the DT and JE James Flagg Cycle Challenge for Ashgate Hospice.

Editor Graeme Huston, reporter Jon Cooper and advertising rep Shaun Pritchard will be joining the ever-growing number of fundraisers taking on the 55 mile bike ride across the Peak District.

The 2014 event offers a 55miler, a 25miler and a 10miler and aims to raise thousands of pounds for the Chesterfield-based hospice, on Ashgate Road, at Old Brampton.

It starts at Ashgate Hospice from 9am, on Sunday, July 27, and returns after completing a route around the beautiful Peak District countryside.

All participants will enjoy a marshalled route with fantastic landmarks and views. The 55miler takes riders from Old Brampton into the beautiful Peak District where they will experience great views from the top of Flagg, Birchover, Rowsley and the Chatsworth Estate to name but a few.

The 25 mile route will go from the hospice via Cutthorpe, down to Baslow, up to Curbar and to Ashford-in-the-Water, before returning through Pilsley to Baslow and back along the previous route. The 10 miler goes from the hospice via Cutthorpe and towards Baslow before returning via Brampton. Riders get sponsor forms and a map.
