UPDATE: Witness appeal after man dies and woman hospitalised in A6 crash

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died following a crash between a car and a lorry on the A6 at Whatstandwell yesterday.

At around 12noon, on Tuesday (November 1) a Vauxhall Vectra travelling towards Ambergate crashed with a Scania lorry that was travelling in the opposite direction towards Cromford.

As a result of the collision, the driver of the car, a 67-year-old man, suffered fatal injuries.

A woman, who was the front seat passenger of the car sustained minor injuries and was treated in the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham. The lorry driver wasn’t injured.

The crash caused long delays and police closed the A6 between the Hurt Arms and Cromford.

The road was reopened later in the evening.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw the vehicles, or any other vehicles that may have been involved, should contact the collision investigation unit on 101, quoting incident number 496 of November 1.
