A FORMER soldier who marched for four days from Darley Dale to Wootton Bassett has raised over £3,000 for injured servicemen and women.

Warren Abbotts, of Darley Dale, took part in the 130 mile trek last year for Help For Heroes, and was so inspired by the challenge he is training to become a leader with Matlock Army Cadets.

He said: “I wanted to join the cadets to put something back in to the community. It is fantastic to see the young cadets working hard and doing something positive.”

The dad-of-four, who joined the Army when he was 17 and served for four years, added: “I’m proud of what I’ve achieved, for all of our heroes.”
