Walker rescued after slipping in snow

RESCUERS taking part in a fundraising event were called away to help a walker who had slipped in the snow.

Nine members of Buxton and Edale Teams Snatch Squad were called to Townhead Bridge, near Hope on Saturday, December 10 at around 11am.

Buxton Team members were fundraising in Castleton enabling a quick response.

A 40-year-old man had dislocated his shoulder after slipping on wet snow while walking in the Lose Hill area.

The DLR Air Ambulance was also called out and the aircrew treated the man on site, giving him pain relief.

Team members arrived on site and placed the casualty in a vacuum mattress and loaded him onto a stretcher, he was then sledged downhill taking advantage of the snow cover to the waiting aircraft.

He was airlifted to the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield for further treatment.
