Nearly 40 flood warnings remain in place across Derbyshire after Storm Christoph battered the county overnight.

Homes and businesses in Bakewell and Matlock have flooded, with one Wye Bank resident claiming it is the "worst in more than 40 years".

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team were on standby in Bakewell overnight for flood rescue and said nobody needed to be evacuated from their home.

Water levels on the River Derwent at Matlock peaked at 3.89 metres at 6.30am this morning but continue to fall.

Water levels on the River Wye at Ashford in the Water have also dropped.

Matlock town centre has been closed because of flooding, however.

Derbyshire Dales District Council tweeted: “A6 #Matlock town centre closed between Crown Square and the Dimple junction, with flooding outside M&S store.”

Thirty-nine flood warnings remain in place across Derbyshire.
