Well done to Peter Wild

With reference to your article ‘Marking Area’s Historic Sites’ (Matlock Mercury, September 22) I should like to pay tribute to Peter Wild, a member of Matlock Civic Association, for organising these and future Blue Plaques, which involves considerable time and effort in securing necessary consents, procurement and arranging installation etc.

The plaques link in with the publication of two booklets on Town Trails, which has also been led by Peter, on behalf of the Civic Association.

These walks tell the tale of the development of the town by reference to its buildings and the stories of people behind them.

We pass these buildings every day but few are aware of their significance in the story of our town. (The booklets are available from the Tourist Information Centre and the Town Council at Imperial Rooms)

Well done Peter for all your research and hard work in achieving the above.
