Penny farthing racing will be returning to Matlock’s Hall Leys to celebrate the park’s centenary.

Riders came to the town last weekend as a preview for this Sunday’s event.

Matlock Cycling Club will be taking over the park for riders to compete for the penny farthing championship trophy, sponsored by Maazi Indian Restaurant.

The best racers from all over the country will converge on the park and the day will also include unicycle racing, unicycle hockey, youth racing for any six to 16-year-olds and cycle polo.

The day will also include free bike health checks and a chance to get your portrait taken in the ‘penny farthing photo both.’

Action starts at 10.30 with the grand penny race at 2pm.

Races will take place from 11.30am.

A presentation of prizes will take place at 3.30pm.
