A man has been jailed for three years after he was found guilty of possessing drugs with the intent to supply.

Timothy Higton, 37, was sentenced at Derby Crown Court on Thursday, December 8. He had previously been found guilty of two counts of possessing drugs with intent to supply and attempting to possess the drugs MDMA. He pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis.

On December 29 last year, police stopped Higton as he drove along King Edward Street, Wirksworth, the street where he lived. They searched the car and found drugs inside.

Derbyshire Dales Inspector Bryan Hall said: “Wirksworth enjoys a low crime rate and no one wants to see the town brought down by people dealing or taking drugs.

“I’m pleased with this sentence and I hope it shows residents living in Wirksworth that we take the issue of drugs seriously.”
