Wirksworth prepares for carnival

Party time is on its way to a Dales town as the community prepares for its annual carnival.

Wirksworth Carnival and Well Dressing Weekend is being held from May 24 to 26.

The Wirksworth Parade Committee has organised a weekend to remember full of fun and entertainment ranging from children’s rides to stalls and the parade itself.

The traditional blessing of the wells begins at 10.45am on Saturday at St Mary’s Church, followed by a walk around the wells.

Anyone wishing to take part in the parade or entertainment is asked to email [email protected].

The carnival website, www.wirksworthcarnival.org, will feature a programme of events.
