Your chance to be Matlock’s top photographer

Have your say

Calling all budding photographers! Now is your chance to prove your skills as a snapper by entering our exciting new competition.

It’s Hall Leys Park’s 100th birthday, so we want to see your pictures of the park in all its glory.

You can take pictures of anything in the park, from the bedding plants to the skate ramps, the children’s swings to the bowling green.

You might choose to enter a sizzling summer shot or a Hall Leys winter wonderland.

The only rules are that the picture must be of Hall Leys Park and it must be your own work.

Why not use our pictures opposite, taken by the Mercury’s star photographer Paul Robinson, as inspiration for your own photograph?

We are launching the competition today to mark the park’s 100th birthday.

The competition is being run in conjunction with Matlock Town Council and together we will be turning the contest into an annual Matlock Photographer of the Year competition.

Winners will be announced at the end of August and our favourite shots will be displayed in the Cafe in the Park over the bank holiday weekend.

There will be a trophy and a certificate for the second and third place entries in two categories: 16 and under and adult.

To enter, simply email your entry in jpeg format to news@matlockmercury.co.uk along with your name, age, address and contact details.

Entries must be in jpeg form. Unfortunately, no printed photographs can be accepted for entry into the competition. Anyone who does not have access to email can bring their entry into the office on a memory stick. Normal Mercury competition rules apply.
