Students at Anthony Gell School enjoyed a special day of Asian arts activities last week.
The normal timetable was suspended for the day and instead year seven pupils had lessons in tabla drumming, bhangra dancing, and art making from jewels and sand.

They also had the chance to taste a range of spices and to try some Indian snacks.

Workshops were led by Vijay Mehay, Kal Bansal, Pritam Singh and food science teacher Sarah Foster.

Head of art, Jane Griffiths, who organised the day, said: “The students responded really well and had a go at everything — even if some of them found the spices a bit too hot to handle.”
