A battling draw against high flying Leabrooks Lynx, earned Ashover their final points of the season.

Thrashed 7-0 in the corresponding home fixture, Ashover came so close to taking all 3 points this time.

Ashover’ s resolute defending prevented an early deficit.

However, a poor defensive clearance in the 20th minute undid all the hard work as Leabrooks established a 1-0 lead which they extended 15 minutes later. To salvage some pride and now playing against the slope, Ashover started the second half positively and their endeavours were rewarded with an early reply from Wasylenko.

Buoyed by this, Fairclough bent a stunning free kick around the defensive wall to bring Ashover level.

Defensive frailty again proved their undoing as Ashover fell behind again and it looked as though Ashover were destined to take nothing from the match other than pride. But the diminutive Kerry had other ideas and two glorious goals eased their noses in front.

Desperately trying to hang on for a valiant point, Ashover defended like their lives depended upon it. But once again a scrappy goal proved their undoing and ensured that the points were shared.

Thus another season drew to a close with the draw ensuring another top half Diviison One finish for a spirited Ashover team.
