BASLOW and Calver battled out a local derby on Saturday – with the visitors claiming the bragging rights.
Calver batted first and achieved a fine total of 205-7, thanks largely to the efforts of opener Tom Hilton who scored 85.
Fellow opener Mark Burnett added 43 and Douglas Howie 40, which was just as well as none of the following six batsman could score any more than ten runs between them before the innings closed.
Tony Sadler was the best bowler as he took 4 for 21, with John Hadfield and Ahmir Hussain sharing the othr three wickets.
In reply, Derek Emmett's innings was the highlight for hosts Baslow as his 49 made Calver work, but with the rest of the order scoring poorly – Hadfield next highest on 21 – the visitors' target never looked under threat.
There were some good bowling performances for Calver with Stewart Hallows the pick with 3 for 27, while Eric Bite took 3 for 35.
Douglas Howie and Angus Hodgson took two wickets apiece as Calver wrapped up the win in the first ball of the 41st over.
