TEAM Matlock, the Matlock and District League's National League side, went to Grantham over the weekend and gave a creditable account of themselves.
A mix-up in venues meant that Matlock had to play their first fixture against Pudsey with a depleted team, and with only three players on duty they lost the match 3-5.
An urgent call went out to Dave Kelly who was at the regional trials and he agr
eed to rush across town to support the side, and what a good addition he was.
Matlock won the next tie against Drumchapel by 5-3 to give the Dales squad their first win at national level.
Day two saw Matlock lose to Uxbridge 6-2, but then they came back to earn a well deserved draw with Rotherham Scorpions, with Rowsley 08 player Warren Slaney still unbeaten at national level with 16 wins out of 16 matches.
