DERBYSHIRE Dales girls gathered at Wirksworth Cricket Club for a cricket training day organised by the schools sports partnership.
Forty enthusiasts from Lady Manners, Highfields and Anthony Gell secondary schools worked through a series of cricket skills under the guidance of WCC coach Charlotte Horton.

A morning of hard work on cricket basics was followed by two afternoon practice games.

Janice Price, organiser of the event praised the skills and motivation of the cricketers, Said: “Some of the girls have not played cricket before, but they show impressive ability and lots of interest.

“We hope to take their work forward and form a combined Dales girls team.

“This was a happy day and, amazingly, it didn‘t rain.”
