MATLOCK Town completed their fourth close season signing over the weekend with the acquisition of 20-year-old midfielder Liam King.
King was released by League Two outfit Rotherham United at the end of last season having spent part of the campaign on loan to Blue Square Premier club Altrincham.

Joint Gladiators bosses Phil Brown and Gareth Williams worked hard to get King to sign on the dotted line with at least two Blue Square Premier and one Blue Square North sides also in contention.

King looks to have the qualities missing from the Matlock midfield for much of the latter part of last season and he also has versatility being able to operate as a central defender or full back.

"He likes a tackle, can break play up and has a good engine.

"We're very pleased to have Liam on board," said joint boss Phil Brown.

The Gladiators are also hopeful of further additions to their squad in the coming week.
