Denby second XI 200-7 (18 points) drew with Wirksworth & Middleton first XI 173-8 (nine points)
BOTH sides came to this game with just one win each this season and so it remained afterwards.
If W&M didn’t deserve to win it some reckless play at the end cost them potentially valuable extra points.
Simon Mann, a promising Denby youngster, scored 50 in a long stay at the crease well supported by Stephen Lee, with 45, and members of the Burgoyne family.
Upul Indrasiri was the most successful bowler for Wirksworth & Middleton with 3-47, Dan Nolan had 2-24 and there was a wicket for Mark Woodward.
In reply, an opening stand of 76 set W&M up for a possible win with Indrasiri making 34 and Paul Thompson 36.
After three quick wickets fell another useful stand of 66 raised hopes again.
Colin Julian scored 24 and Richard Hosein, in his first game of the season, 39.
Then Denby hit back again to leave the visitors two runs short of the extra bonus points.
