ALLENTON United and Wirksworth Town continue to go neck and neck at the top of the Premier Division as both recorded away wins.
Allenton won 3-0 at Cromford with goals from Paul Wilson, David Rostrum and Michael Tristam while
Wirksworth’s win came 2-1 at Allestree.
Scott Gascoigne and James Newton scored for Wirksworth while Thornhill netted the Allestree goal.
Third placed Long Eaton United Reserves suffered a set back losing 4-0 to Rowsley ‘86.
Melbourne Dynamo, though, kept up the pressure on the leaders by beating Chellaston 4-0. Chellaston had two players sent off in the first 30 minutes but despite this Melbourne only took control in the closing stages. Dave Brough, Paul Swallow, Lee Scott and Carl Allsopp all scored for Melbourne.
John Woolley with three goals and Danny Palmer one helped steer Newmount to a 4-1 win over Sandiacre Town while Paul Bicknell and Perry Richards helped the new look Ashover get a point at Derby Rolls Royce Leisure with a 2-2 draw. Andy Dawkins scored both the Royce goals.
Ben Goddard and Lewis Whiting both converted penalties for Holbrook St Michaels who lost 4-2 to Willington.
There were three third round ties in the Junior Cup with one going to extra-time and penalties before Derbyshire Amateurs beat Belper United Reserves.
The score was 1-1 after 120 minutes with Dean Jones scoring for Belper and Colley for the Amateurs before the Amateurs won 4-1 on penalties - Belper had a player sent off.
Bargate Rovers, with goals from Rob Gregory, Andy Middleton and Mickey Dunn (2), beat Pastures Reserves 4-2, while Mickleover RBL defeated Swanwick Pentrich Road 3-1.
In Division One, league leaders Selston were in Notts FA Cup action beating Rainsworth MW Reserves 3-1 through goals from Steven Smith, Alan Smith and Damien Curran, so the chance was there for Heanor Colliers to close on the leaders which they took by beating Little Eaton 7-0.
Punjab United also closed on the top of the league with a 5-0 victory over Holbrook St Michaels Reserves, The goals coming from Sukhjit Heer, Jason James and three from Courtney Webster.
Kirk Fallows and Joe Smith scored for Ripley Town as they lost 4-2 to Cotes Park while Shirland Athletic had goals from Guy Taylor (3), Jamie Morgan (2) and Ben Bloodman as they beat Derby Rolls Royce Leisure Reserves 6-0.
With Belper United Reserves otherwise occupied, Wirksworth Town Reserves seized the opportunity to go back into second place in Division Two by beating Sandiacre Town Reserves 3-0. Andy Brown, Toby Howard and Russ Taylor scoring their goals.
Rowsley ‘86 Reserves won 3-1 at Hilton Harriers, Chris Blanksey scored the Hilton goal.
Wirksworth Ivanhoe suffered a set-back, losing 3-1 at Findern Reserves. The winning goals were scored by Tom Jennings, Tom Herrett and Ross Woodhouse.
